Overall Purpose of Position / Function:

In this highly visible position you will assist business process owners in strengthening internal controls and SOX compliance.

Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain detailed Sarbanes-Oxley compliance schedules for testing, documentation, and external audits.

  • Oversee test procedures and evaluate test results to ensure the integrity and quality of internal tests.
  • Oversee the gap remediation process and generate periodic reports for the SOX Program Management Office and senior staff.
  • Work closely with external auditors, review audit status/issue report, and resolve outstanding issues.
  • Review and recommend changes to standard operating procedures and accounting policies and procedures that serve as a foundation for internal controls.
  • Provide financial expertise and leadership to operation headquarters groups to ensure consistency.
  • Research and recommend best practices in finance and accounting.
  • Participate in the budgeting/forecasting process for corporate and the subsidiaries, including the preparation of the annual budget and subsequent revisions, maintenance of departmental estimates, and the reporting of actual performance compared to targets for each functional manager.
  • Ensure company tax compliance via timely and accurate preparation and filing of all necessary income, excise, property, payroll and sales/use tax returns.

Education / Experience:

Minimum 5 - 7 years experience in financial reporting.  US-GAAP statements and corporate annual reports SEC reporting a plus. Knowledge of state and federal regulations which affect financial reporting and record keeping is required.  Should have working knowledge of Sarbanes/Oxley, have excellent communication and organization skills and must be a team player.  Must be proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.  Bachelor's degree in accounting with CPA required, masters and "Big Four" experience a plus.
